When we started out in 1983, we knew that we wanted to be the best technology solutions provider, and to achieve that, we had to partner with people who share our core values and have the same level of passion and commitment towards what we do. Over the years, with the help of our talented teams, Athens Micro was able to partner with industry leaders while successfully delivering resilient and recoverable IT. We believe the secret to this achievement isn’t just about technology, but working with the right people.
Network Engineer – Walter Mancill
Walter brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in IT, having served as an information systems manager and IT director for companies and schools. In previous work for other IT service providers, Walter discovered a passion for developing network solutions for a wide range of clients. Walter enjoys the daily “uplift — the way I imagine a superhero must feel,” that comes with resolving issues for customers. He also appreciates the long-term satisfaction of “building a network as a form of creation.”
Walter enjoys creating and rebuilding in other areas of his life as well.
"My grandmother was a painter and my grandfather was a carpenter. I have dabbled in painting, but she had the patience and talent that I don’t possess. I still enjoy the process of creation/building from raw materials. I plan to continue to challenge myself in new ways in familiar areas and to branch out to new forms of creation."
Help Desk Engineer – Ryan Bellune
Ryan’s combined experience as a Geek Squad Advanced Repair Agent and as a TekSystems contractor, implementing desktop solutions for Piedmont Healthcare, makes him an excellent match for Athens Micro’s diverse customer base.
“I like how my work involves a great deal of problem-solving and critical thinking skills. I feel like my skill set is being put to good use.”
Ryan also loves playing guitar, mountain biking, and playing Dungeons and Dragons with friends.
Sales Engineer – Sandy Jordan
Sandy has wide-ranging experience, from a career in the printing industry to administrative work for college tech programs to volunteering for Free IT Athens.
“I’m looking forward to learning more about our customers and meeting their needs. I’m loving the family dynamic here at Athens Micro. It’s nice to be able to ask and get advice from any and every one.”
Sandy enjoys time with her son, who will be a senior in high school next year and soon making his own way in the world. She also recently started participating in group runs with the goal of running a 5K within the next year. Of her volunteer role at Free IT Athens, where she assists with computer repair and setup, Sandy says, “it’s very rewarding when you can help make a difference in your community. We are always in need of donations and volunteers, so check out www.freeitathens.org for more information!”
